Rob steps down from the Toshiba M200 to the HP TC1100 Tablet PC? Why?
“I’ve found that I enjoy my tablet experience more with the TC1100 than with the M200. I use the pen more; I use it as a slate more; I take it with me to church more. Its’ smaller, lighter, and smoother.”
Yeah, I sure wish HP would come up with a newer and faster version of the TC1100. I do a lot of coding on my Tablet and I need as much performance as I can get.
Like Rob, I miss my slate. If only I could disconect the display from the Toshiba and use it like a slate. How wonderful it would be.
Doesn’t look like much chance of that…

“In fact, when Ms. Sigler heads over to the booth of Hewlett-Packard, the company that makes the Tablet PC she uses, a representative tells her that the company is no longer marketing the devices to consumers. It has none on display at the show.”
I can appreciate companies being thrifty and cautious in tough markets like this.
I’m just going to hazard a guess though that it won’t matter too much right now whether HP markets Tablets to the consumer or just to the enterprise. Either way consumers are having to do the leg work to learn about and find them. Online resources like TabletPCTalk, TabletPCBuzz, WhatIsNew, TabletQuestions and TabletPC.com are the major education channels right now. Where have people been going otherwise? So even if the marketing strategy changes, I don’t think it’ll change things that much for the consumer looking to buy. It’ll still be up to them.
