Second generation Tablets, like the Toshiba M200 and Sahara iTablet, are significantly better than their first-gen cousins. Some of this has to do with the enhancements in Service Pack 2 (improved handwriting recognition and vastly improved Input Panel), but it’s also due to the incremental improvements in the hardware–courtesy of Intel. The new Tablets run faster, longer, and cooler. It makes a huge difference in usability. I find myself only booting up one of my old Tablets when I really, really have too. They are simply too slow. I’m spoiled.
I can appreciate, for instance, why John Ludwig has downgraded his first-gen Tablet so that it’s not much more than an extra monitor. I see that this is a relatively old post, so I wonder if he’s given up on Tablets. Hope not, there’s lots of great Tablet software floating around now in places like TabletPCPost.
