Slashdotters are chatting about running Linux on a Tablet PC. A few people have partial implementations running on a TC1000, Acer, and Toshiba M200.
The key word here is “partial.” They aren’t even talking about recognition. They’re having difficultly getting drivers for the Wacom digitizer, WiFi, and more.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Windows XP Tablet Edition is magnitudes better than these partial implementations, but I like the idea of trying Linux out on a Tablet. Hopefully, a critical mass of Linux curious enthusiasts will inspire the hardware folks to pass along to them the information they need.
In the long run this will help the platform. Tablet Linux users will mean more Tablet hardware sales, boost competition, encourage innovation, and grow the Tablet platform.
