Lora’s building a list of Tablet enthusiasts that’ll be attending CES in January. I see that Peter and Monica are shuttling to Vegas too. Great.
I’m not sure about any organized Tablet GetTogethers at this point, but let’s try to think of something where we can bring as many Tablet enthusiasts, small and large ISVs, OEMs, Tablet team members, and other key industry influencers together.
Like last year’s Comdex and CES GetTogethers, these were amazing opportunities to gather, talk Tablets, plead your case for a specific Tablet feature to an OEM, and in some cases get a sneak peak at some unreleased Tablets and technologies. Several ISVs also used these opportunities to showcase their projects. No booths needed. They just walked around and if they ran into someone they wanted to show their work to–they’d just whip out their Tablet and demo right there–Tablet style.
Lora and I were goofing around with some ideas and we were wondering what if we mixed in a bit of Tablet Birthday Party with a get together. Maybe have some balloons–one for each product with the product name written on it. Then we realized, nah, it would probably fill the whole room! I suggested that each ISV should have to string their balloon to their arm so people could look out to find them in the crowd. Lora promptly shot that idea down. I don’t have much of a fashion sense :-).
Any ideas anyone? Let’s come up with something that’s memorable, fun, and valuable.
OK, on a relative scale I liked the balloon idea better than your Tablet PC hat idea that you drew in a message. How’s that? LOL
I agree that at this point an organized “TabletFest” would be difficult, but as you said, I’d really enjoy a little time where people can meet for at least a little while.
I hope I am able to free up so I can go and meet all the great Tablet people I read every day and correspond with. I have registered to go, in any case. It would be great to meet with OEMs for some meaningful discussion on where they are going for future products. I will bring my Sony U-70 Tablet PC to try and promote the “Mini-Tablet” I think would be a big seller.
