Robert Scoble asks to be fired. His reasoning? He hasn’t been able to convince his close friends to buy Tablets:
“I’m a failure as a Tablet PC evangelist. Bill Gates, you should just fire me now and make me go to work for Donald Trump or something.
Here’s why I’m a failure.
Four friends have not taken my advice to buy a Tablet PC. Lenn Pryor. Jeff Sandquist. Dave Winer. Buzz Bruggeman.
They all bought Sony Vaio’s (except for Buzz who bought an IBM Thinkpad).”
Yeah, I’ve encountered similar stories. Some of it is the hardware like Scoble points out. If you’re going to use a Tablet more as a standard notebook, it’s going to have to be a terrific notebook first and foremost. For many people that do a lot of travelling and live inside Outlook, this is a big issue. Now if Outlook were more ink-friendly, maybe that would change things a bit, but I bet not. Again, for many users a good Tablet must be a great notebook.
