On a VentureBeat guest post, Chester Ng asks an interesting what-if question; What if Microsoft forked Android?
First, the idea of Microsoft forking another operating system is rather distant in possibilities. A new Microsoft CEO is probably going to focus on Microsoft strengths and not expand product offerings, yet. The answers lie in the person chosen to head Microsoft; a tech leader or a business leader. The future for Microsoft is dependent on choosing the right person.
Second, Microsoft already invests in the Linux distribution SuSE. According to the alliance website, “this alliance brings our customers a unique combination of skills to deliver the unified solutions, integrated tools and first-class support you need for your mixed Windows and Linux infrastructure, now and into the future.”
