Succeed in Math! Software Increases Test Scores

The Center for Business & Economic Research of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) announced that students for all groups studied who use Succeed In Math! software increase test scores over those who did not use this product. Student groups ranged from first time test takers (10th graders) to non-proficient seniors who had failed the math portion of the Nevada High School Proficiency Exam multiple times.

The product uses animation to demonstrate concepts visually.

Students choose from a bilingual narration option (English or Spanish) to explain the material in words that they understand.

Developers added interactive practice and quizzes after each subject module to make sure students understand the concepts presented.

They also include math-related activities like interactive crossword puzzles, links to age-appropriate games and brain teasers that reinforce and illustrate the math concepts and make learning fun!

Interactive Technologies of Nevada (ITN) developed the product. It has developed other Internet-based assessment and remediation software to help students improve skills and increase test scores.

As with similar products, I did not find indications that this product uses Ink, so Tablet PC and other mobile PC users can participate without a keyboard. I wonder how Ink would affect test scores?

Download a copy of the study of Succeed in Math! on the ITN site.
