The Associated Press reports an case study of how punishment lead to violent behavior by a student with autism. An administrative law judge ruled that the school district must stop restraining and stop using isolation to control the student’s behavior.
It’s amazing that districts still permit such actions by teachers after many such rulings and Federal law regulations.
This is a must read for teachers, child advocates, and community opinion leaders.
Thanks, Teacher Magazine, for drawing attention to this case.
