Thanks Bill, for pointing me to Julia Crouse’s January article that Florida may do away with high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, if a new proposal for changing high school requirements passes through the Florida Legislature this spring… The legislation includes a new program called Academic All-Stars, a distinction of subject area expertise through a star system.
Students will earn course credits toward a graduation, regardless of how long it takes to do so, just like in college.
This makes sense, legislators. Congratulations to State Board of Education for endorsing the proposal. We’ll watch to understand the inevitable debate among politicians and education unions. I wonder who will claim their ox would be gored?
