All the recent euphoria around Web 2.0 has me thinking.
How much of the Web 2.0 generation owes a huge hug of gratitude to Google?
Think about it. Take away Google–in particular, AdSense–and how many blogs would have lumbered along without it? And without the explosive growth in blogs would enough of the Net had cared about blogrolls and sharing pictures and podcasts and RSS?
It’s not that many blogs are kept alive via advertising, but many of the leading “news blogs” are. And these blogs have inspired many link fests among the online community, fueling their enthusiasms.
There’s no doubt that all the Net is an interwoven community, but in terms of the last couple years, how much of the Web revival is riding on Google’s coattails and its growth?
