I spotted my first Segway in the neighborhood. The rider didn’t look all the comfortable, so I’m guessing he just got it. Hmmm. Now that I think about it, this is the first Segway I’ve seen in town. Maybe I need to get out more. Or…

People on Segways always look so serious. It is as if they didn’t want everyone to know that they were having fun. I’ve ridden one (and want one) and they are just too cool for words. But no one sees to want to project that it is anything but a serious ride.
I saw a postal carrier running around on one several years ago in one of the suburban areas of North Seattle. The unit had bags mounted to it for this special use. The postal carrier looked very serious…just trying to do the job…riding it around the neighborhoods every day. I rode one and it was challenging at first (like learning to drive a car). The fun probably peaks right after learning to drive it. Then it becomes just another mode of transportation. There are probably many Segues sitting in garages collecting dust.
James, yeah, I bet the Segway is going old enough that there are some pretty good buys at garage sales and on eBay. One of my first thoughts actually was whether this guy had just picked up his Segway from eBay. 🙂
