Adding equations to Microsoft word documents

Andy Anderson at In Loco Parentis offers useful tips for those who teach math and use MS Word. Andy’s former math teacher, now a law student. Interesting combination of skills. I appreciate how these skills offer useful insights on his blog.

  1. I’ve been subbing in a 5-6 middle school. I can’t tell you how many teachers handwrite C=pi x D and other fractions on math sheets. After figuring out how to do it in Word, I realized a blog is a great way for me to note the steps–just in case I forget. [Andy aka bumper]

  2. Writing equations by hand is a distinct advantage to applications like OneNote, Journal, GoBinder, and if a student / faculty member wants problem solving, then xThink’s MathJournal.
