Philadelphia School of the Future Opened Today

Mary Cullinane shares her thoughts about events leading up to opening today of the School District of Philadelphia School of the Future. This has been a joint venture of the Philadelphia district and Microsoft. The school opens today at 8AM! And a great cartoon on the School of the Future Chronicles illustrates the hope for students attending here.

… we had the right PEOPLE on the project, Mary reports. They were passionate, focused on kids, willing to try new things and worked harder than ever. Finding the right people… Getting them on board… and then helping them cross the finish line is how great things happen. And it is certainly what allowed this school to open.

Kudos Mary for posting your views and facts. Kudos also to everyone who helped create and operate this school.

Thanks, Philadelphia board members and educators. You raised the bar and redefined “educational leadership” with this project. You made the term into a descriptor. We need your example.

We appreciate the many lessons you offer, and look forward to using them in our own settings.

What do you plan for an encore?

Thanks, Lora, for your reminder.
