Generation Y teachers, born between 1977 and 1995, compose 18% of the workforce. Unfortunately the rate of turnover for these teachers is greater than others (see Barnes, Crowe, & Schaefer, 2007; Milanowski & Odden, 2007).

Generation Y teachers surveyed expressed reasons behind their school choices. For example, they will choose between two identical districts based on student behavior and parent support. Next, they look for strong backing and support by administrators.
