One reason you are recieving such negative feedback to your post is the lack
of specific information, you specify an unknown security update and an
unknown DLL error.
Are you perhaps referring to KB972270?
"MS10-001: Vulnerability in the Embedded OpenType Font Engine could allow
remote code execution"
This update(that was released on Patch Tuesday) replaced the following two
system files in Windows XP SP3:
Font Subsetting DLL:
fontsub.dll
C
WINDOWS\system32 \ fontsub.dll
Embedded OpenType Font Engine for Windows:
t2embed.dll
C
WINDOWS\system32 \ t2embed.dll
So was it one of these two DLL files that your error message was
referencing?
FYI, I've installed this Update on 4 Windows XP SP3 machines without any
crashing of IE.
Is the Update still installed on your machine, or did you uninstall it?
Have you tried downloading and installing the Update manually?
Did you temporarily disable your real-time security application(s) before
trying to install this update?
Did you try Re-Registering the DLL file in question?
Answering some(all) of the above questions might turn your post into a more
positive experience for you, as well as help others in this group try to
help you.
Good luck,
Donald Anadell
