WMP12 pauses (or breaks) during playing a playlist

I have just upgraded from Vista to Win7 and think that WMP12 is a bit of a
retrograde step.

The first problem is the missing Advanced Tag Editor but am slowly working
my way round how to change the Library entries for each album and track
reflects what I want it to say not what some online database says it should
be. For instance I ripped a classical CD and the track titles were summaries
not the actual track title and the cover art, artist and album artist was
wrong .

I have just "heard" a new problem when trying to playback a playlist or
original CD (surely the raison d'etre for WMP) in that intermittantly hlf
second silences appear during a track. WMP11 under Vista on the same
computer (Dell quad core with 2GB ram) never did that.

Any clues to cures?

WMP 12 possibly inserts half a second of silence between each song by
default.

Switch to Now Playing mode, right-click an empty space, and select
Enhancements - Crossfading and auto volume leveling. If you turn on
crossfading and set the overlap to 0 seconds, does that help?

Regards
