WMP 11/Wondows XP Multiple Tag pblms

I just recently started messing with album art and trying to organize my mp3
music files. I'm having a problem that when I update a specific song by
pasteing art, it is somehow updating multiple files. There is probably
something I am doing wrong but can find nothing to clarify how this occurs.
It seems that this will also edit the album title and update each line item I
have done during that session. Has anyone any idea as to what I might be
doing wrong?

When it's updating multiple files, are these all files (tracks) of the
same album? If that's the case, then there's not much that can be done
about this, except for removing some internal tags with a tool like Mp3tag.

If they aren't files of the same album, perhaps they are all located in
the same folder? Try moving some of them to a different folder and see
if that helps.

BTW, what exactly do you mean with "update each line item I have done
during that session"?

Regards

Thank you for your time in trying to help with this. I'm not sure how to
explain exactly. I'm not on my computer daily and this problem has proven so
irritating it's makes me crazy. An example. I display my library by Artist.
This gives me a display with the artist name and an album picture (if only
one song) or a faned display in the event of multiple songs on multiple
albums. If I spot an error, I go into the advanced tag editor, correcting the
title, artist or art, as need be apply and exit. What I've found is that
seemingly unrelated songs are updated. These have now multiplied my problem.

You're saying that unrelated songs are updated, so they all aren't or
weren't part of the same album? Which fields (title, artist...) of the
unrelated songs get updated?

Does the same thing happen when you don't use the Advanced Tag Editor,
i.e. when you right-click a song's field and select Edit?

If you go to WMP's Options, Library, and uncheck "Retrieve additional
information from the Internet", does that help?

Tim, Thanks again for your time in replying. Short story is I'm recovering
from some surgery and not been on the computer. I've read your responces and
am in the process of trying to check what you've suggested. I'm not sure how
long it will take or the time it will take me to try and narrow down some
insight. I have tried updating individual lines via the "edit" function line
by line. My files are all messed up with wrong titles, artists and album
titles (as well as art). I've also found that apparently, my cd burner has
problems (having just read some posts on the HP site. Again, thank you. I
just don't want to seem ungrateful for your time in helping..
