Ted S could tell us:
-- what computer? (make, model, CPU, amount of virtual
memory, swap file size, etc)
-- under what circumstances? (all the time? does rebooting
help, at least for a while?)
-- any info on CPU usage? (just get into Windows Task Manager,
open the Processes tab, look under CPU and tell us any
non-trivial numbers in the CPU column, plus what the CPU
Usage (at the bottom) is) -- (then open the Performance tab
and tell us all the numbers whether he understands them or
not)
-- what anti-virus program? (hopefully only one)
-- when did it start? (any new software installed about then?)
-- what software is used?
-- and another of the journalist's 5 W's, who? (meaning, who has
done anything with his machine, such as helpful [possible]
experts, or his kids)
That should get us off to something of a start.
