Windows XP freeze

Flightless Bird
I have a Dell Dimesion XP Pro sp3. When left on overnight after closing all
programs, the login screen is displayed but the computer is frozen and I have
to turn off manually and restart.
To start diagnosing the problem do I look under event manager or error log?

OK under event system

Event ID : 7000

"The Dazzle Mojave Device service failed to start due to the following
error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or
because it has no enabled devices associated with it. "


This computer had a fried HD 6 mo ago and was replaced with a new one and
the OS re-installed. Wasn't sure which drivers were needed so I thought I
installed them all (the ones that came on the driver disc)

The only connection I can find for the "dazzle" is possibly something with
the keyboard or maybe a media driver. So maybe it's a driver I loaded that
isn't needed (it's just a business PC no games, etc)

Is the Dazzle a driver? Should I just un-install it if it's on there?

Any help TIA

Does anything apprear in Event Viewer?

Have a look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for
Errors and Warnings and post copies here. Don't post any more than 48
hours ago.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Is Dazzle Mojave listed as a service?

Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. If listed right
click on the Service, select Properties and view it's status. The
Dependencies tab will tell you what Dazzle Mojave is dependent on.

See below. Two things. When I click on event log I get a message saying the
event log file is corrupt.
Also under services there is nothing named mojave, dazzle or anything like
it. I found a progtam in add/remove in control panel called Move media player
that had no filesize so I deleted it.

Any other ides will be welcome. Thanks for the pasting tip.

disabled.

so try accessing services via
admin tools and double
check to see if it is disabled

if so, then enable it by
right clicking on it and
select the appropriate
option.

however, if the service is
enabled or still get the error

then double check the start ups
that run a boot time.

there may be a startup that no
longer functions.

click on start>run>msconfig

then under startup tab look
for the line item that references
that program.

then disable it by unchecking
the line.

if the above solves the error
but find that you are still in need
of that program or device driver,

then you can reinstall it.

its likely that dell has the
download or faqs on the
issues with that program.

To identify what loads when you boot use Autoruns (freeware) from
Microsoft.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from
starting,or you can right click an item and then delete it. If you
uncheck you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer
approach than editing the Registry and better than using msconfig..
Another useful feature of the programme is that you can right click an
item and select Search Online to get information about the item
selected.

The only place where Mojave Dazzle is listed is under Device Drivers in the
autorun program that Gerry (thank you very much) suggested I run. It does not
show up in services, programs, startup, etc.
I disabled it with the autorun program and everything seems to be running OK.
BTW - this driver seems to be connected with Windows Movie Maker, a program
that doesn't seem at all easy to uninstall. I may call Dell support and see
what they say if problems persist.
