Win7 Updates

[Win7 5th rate Yankee crap]

Where can you turn off the Win7 Updates you don't want like you could in XP?

MS daily try to foist their MS Office crap updates onto Win7 when I don't
have one MS Office components installed. We use OpenOffice.

Today I turned off Win7 Update completely in the interim to avoid getting
annoyed the crap out of by MS

You can turn off any offered updates at the MS update site
if you use the "Custom" selection at the site.

If the update is checked, uncheck it, then just right-click on the
particular update and select "Hide update". Other than maybe the "Office
Live add-in 1.4", there shouldn't be many Office updates if you do not have
any Office components installed, so go ahead and turn updating back on.

I've ha a problem continually getting updates for Office 2007, which
I've never had. I tried your suggestion--hope it works.

Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update.
Select 'Change settings' in the left pane.
Clear the box 'Give me recommended updates....'
When you OK out, the Update page should read:
'You receive updates: For Windows only'.
