Does anyone know where the commands are for "open new office document" and
"open existing office document" in Office 2007? They used to appear in the
taskbar when I selected Start. thank you!

They aren't installed by default.
Do Control Panel Add/Remove Programs (or the Vista/7 equivalent). Click on
Office, click on Change. Select Add or Remove Features. Expand the Office
Shared Features section and click on the drop-down arrow by "New and Open
Microsoft Office Document Shortcuts" and choose "Run from My Computer".
