Where Device Manager stores the data?

Hello,
If I remove harddrive from one computer and read it on another one
can I find what devices:
video, audio, network were installed on that computer the harddrive came
from?
I appreciate your responses,
Claire

Hi, Clare,

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it.

Sometimes you don't get replies on here if it isn't strickly a windows
problem.

You could always try asking on these websites:-

Pretty arduous task, really. Load the machine's registry and look in
the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet###\Services key. Consult the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Select key to determine which ### key to look
at. See here for instructions on loading the offline registry:

Thank you, John.
I had a look at those keys but cannot find what I was looking for.
I need to find the name (model) of soundcard, the name (model) of video card
and the same for the network card.
I am afraid it cannot be done.
I tried on my computer searching in registry for my sound card (Aureal
Vortex) and the find was not successful.
