Watch Dogs: Public School Volunteers

Albert

Technology Writer
David Allen is a very nice person; he volunteers at his local public school as a watch dog. Nicknamed Santa, Allen volunteers at San Carlos Park Elementary.

More than 2,600 schools in 42 states now have dads, grandfathers, uncles and other men helping with arrival and dismissal, doing lunch duty, helping on playgrounds and mentoring students, according to the organization. They fill out applications and are screened before starting at school, and wear shirts identifying them as Watch Dogs.

Albert: Are they any better than real watch dogs?

Albert Jr.: I can run faster.

Gracie: Now now. Be nice you two.

Albert Jr.: I was being nice. Albert did it. He made me. It wasn't me. I didn't do anything.

Albert (chasing AJ): You little ...

Gracie: Boys! Stop. It's almost time for dinner.

Both stop.

Gracie: It works every time. Nothing like a little food to stop two youngsters in their tracks.
