USB troubles

If I leave anything USB connected to one of our computers running XP for
longer than a few minutes, the computer locks hard, requiring a hardware
restart. The USB devices work fine in other computers. Googling the
problem returns lots of hits, but no answers. Anybody else have this?

The power supply might be overheating. Try a powered USB hub.. that's
probably easier than replacing the power supply to test.

Not that specific one but plenty of others. This is what I do.

Remove all USB devices. If you have an internal card reader at least remove
any cards inserted. In Device Manager uninstall all of the USB entries.
Reboot and let them reinstall. Retry devices one at a time. USB driver
corruption has been the biggest problem I've had with XP, by far.

You may need to uninstall anything USB related in Add/Remove Software too
then repeat the first paragrhaph before reinstalling devices one at a time.
