Upgrade paths ?

Hi,

Currently I am running Vista Home Premium 64 and want to migrate to Win 7
Pro.

I have a Win 7 Home Premium Upgrade Disk (& Licence) so I can easily get to
Home Premium - but I also have a Win 7 Pro Disk (& Licence) and I am
wondering if I would then be able to migrate the Win 7 Home Premium to
Professional using that Disk?

Can anyone advise me whether this Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Pro path would
work?

Regards,

Roger.

Windows 7 Home 64 bit at present and you want to know if you can use the Upgrade
path using Windows 7 Pro?
Is the Pro 64 bit or is it 32 bit. Need to know this before giving you an answer

It will work to upgrade to Home or Pro. Is the Pro an OEM Copy? They don't
do "Upgrades".

Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit IS a valid
upgrade path.

From what I've read, that is NOT a valid upgrade path. How did you
come to the conclusion that is was?

It appears that upgrading to windows 7 premium from vista premium
would then allow an upgrade to windows 7 professional

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579(WS.10).aspx

I don't know the difference between an anytime upgrade and a Win 7
Pro Disk (& license)
Hope this sheds some light on the OPs original question.

Hi Peter,

Starting point is Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

I have OEM Win 7 Home Premium Upgrade 64 disk, so can go to Win 7 Home
Premium 64 bit with no trouble.

Also have Full version of Win 7 Professional 64 bit, and am trying to find
out if it is possible to upgrade from Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit to Win 7
Professional 64 bit.

Louis's post in this thread points to:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579(WS.10).aspx

which seems to answer my questions.

Thanks for your input.

Regards,

Roger.
