Hi guys

In xp the updated files ended up in c:/windows\$... where they could
be deleted to save space.

Can't see the same sort of thing in 7, any info on this?

I think the updates initially go to to this folder:
C:/Windows\SoftwareDistribution
but as it's only 40 M/b the files probably end up in the WinSxS folder.
I can't find any hard info about it.
