Uninstall IE8

XP-SP3 IE8

When I try to open a local file c:/test\myown.htm IE8 shows the
download dialog and asks to save/open the file and if I click on Open
then it opens in another copy of the browser.

I tried to find the setting to prevent this and to get the file open
instantly as was the case with IE7.

This is most annoying I want to uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7. How
can I uninstall IE8, no link in Add/Remove list.

At least is there a way to set up IE8 to behave like IE7?

Thanks in advance for any input.

What you are seeing is not a normal procedure. In tools>internet
options>advanced you should see a button towards the bottom that says reset
internet explorer settings. Click this and then see if it fixes the problem.
