On March 8, 2006, Microsoft released the UMPC, the ultra-mobile PC. Initial interest was very high, with a production introduction video going viral. Sadly, the product was not a commercial success. Prices were too high, applications took too long to launch, and there was limited understanding of inking.
The website umpcbuzz.com was successful during the spring of 2006 and was eventually merged with tabletpcquestions.com into a website known as
technology questions. During the peek, 5 million visitors came to the site.
All of the websites were let go after a major family challenge (our loss of
Loren), time constraints, new jobs, new marriages, and several teens moving on to college.
In December 2011, Layne, Bob, Cameron, and Joan started to combine all of the independent domains and blogs into one network. Tonight, umpcbuzz was moved into the Tux Reports Network. It is the final piece to getting all of the "older" sites active and into the network.
