Why didn't you reply when I said Windows 7 has gained 5 time more market

When netbooks came out the majority came with linux installed on them. MSI
has stopped installing linux on it's netbooks as the rate of returns for
netbooks with linux on them was 3 times higher than models that had win xp
on them.

Here is a case of the manufacturer offering linux and the public rejected
it. Linux machines where also cheaper than machines with win xp on them but
it sill didn't matter the more expensive win xp machines outsold the linux
machines despite being cheaper.

If you check, you should find that there are some that say that it was
MSI's poor configuration of their Linux distro that was the main cause of
the returns. Along with customers expecting one product, and getting
another.

Asus and Dell don't seem to have higher return rates for Linux based
sytems:

And, of course, you don't believe that MS lowered its XP price to
counter Linux being on a netbook.

I believe that they did that, and if I was a stock holder I would expect
them to do that. They are a commercial business who are expected to fight
competition. MS do not always do that fairly and honestly, but lowering
the prices on a product is, in my opinion, acceptable practice depending
on how low they would go. If the price got close to zero or even zero it
would be more problematic. I would then consider it dumping which
ethically isn't acceptable, and in some instances illegal.

Is there just some rule that Windows supporters have to be liars and
mental midgets?

Why can't we see someone say "Windows works better for me but I can see
where Linux might be better for some others" without resorting to being a
lying jackass?

It's no wonder Micro$oft's market share is so great, when, apparently,
there's a huge segment of mental midgets who think that market share
equals goodness. It just self-perpetuates.

Too bad linux can't lower their price.

Cause that is simply not true. One needs only one OS...Windows 7...PERIOD!

Don't believe me? Theoretically take a Mother, Father and say 8 yr old
child (typical family) into a big box store that offers computers with
either Windows, linux (any of the 500+ distros) or Apple installed. Its
the consumers choice which one they want.
Which one, and only which one will fulfill ALL of the computing needs of
this family?
Well...?
NO FUCKING LYING ALLOWED!!!

"One needs"? I am one I and I do not need Windows 7.

If we're talking my family we could probably live with all three
alternatives. I have chosen Linux for us, and since the others do not
really care as long as they can do their stuff, Linux it is. There's been
some growling from the kids when the occasional game has needed some extra
attention to get it to work.

All well!

If you actually had a legal RTM copy of Windows 7 it would be the only
OS your family ever needed.

Windows 7 will do everything including all that the others can't do.

Thanks for proving my point.

I have one. My employer keeps throwing them at me. They bounce off and end
up in a drawer. I do have XP in a virtual machine now though. Does that
count?

Didn't realize I did, but I'm glad we're both happy with the outcome! :)

I have it and run it in virtualization. It does not serve me as well as
other options.

Find programs similar to Tofu and DreamCatcher. Find a suite similar to
iLife. Find a suite similar to iWork. Show me where the media browser is.

No... Win 7 is not the be-all and end-all of OSs.
