Track length showing incorrectly

Hello. I have a large number of lectures on my computer that show up as being
a certain length of time but actually are longer and keep playing past the
listed time. I use wmp 7 on windows 7, but the incorrect length also show up
in windows itself.
Any ideas of what the problem is? What to check?

What's the file type (file extension) of these tracks (MP3, WMA)?
