Im servicing a Toshiba Satellite L305 which came with overheating
problems in windows vista but not in Linux. First step i decided to try
is to check everything up and then proceed to format the hard disk, but
when i get to the formatting step the machine keeps restarting, Here are
the steps i have followed:
1- Checked with memtest memory modules---Ok
2-Check Hard Disk with hd-diagnostic --Ok
3-Flashed Bios with the most current version--Ok ( it already had the
latest update)
4- Tried to format the hard disk with a Vista 32 bit cd and after it
finishes loading the files from the cd it just restart .
5- Tried the cd in a different computer and it was ok, i tried with the
xp disk and vista 64 disk ( Which are tested) and got the same results.
6- Tried with a NEW TESTED HD AND ONE NEW TESTED RAM MEMORY and the
same behavior.
7- I decided to take apart the computer and test just the motherboard
and external monitor, the power cord , one memory , the hd and the
cddrive ( to discard any shorts) and i got the same behavior.
8- I tried at the beggining to discharge the static current by taking
out the battery and the power cord and then press the power button for
30 secs and nothing.
Im suspicious about the MotherBoard but everything works just fine with
Knopix linux which i run from a CD. It sounds also as a RAM problem but
i already tested different TESTED SIMs-
Thanks for any Help
