Hi all.

After installing IE7, I have multiple machines that cannot get to access
databases on the local file server. When we try to to open them, we get
this message:

"Microsoft access cannot open this file.

This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open this file due to potential security
problems."

I've tried this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/303650

and this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941000/en-us

and not having any luck. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

What about this one? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810582

This is a Microsoft Access issue, not IE. The above article makes it clear
that Access 2002 (and this may apply to other versions, but without knowing
which version you are using I can't tell) will not open mdb files from a
URL.

What is the format of the path you are using to open these files? If you are
using a URL, then you are not requesting them from a local file server, you
are requesting them via IIS (either FTP or HTTP).

As to the latter article you listed above, did you apply the hotfix?

Personally, I've never had problems with Access 2000, 2002, or 2003 opening
databases from my local file server, even with IE7. We use a mix of UNC
(eg. \\FILESERVER\SHARE\Databases\Database1.mdb) and mapped network drives
(eg. L:/Databases\Database1.mdb) and they work fine.
