The Old Single Click/Double Click

Just realized in XP that I no longer can single click to open items.
Found the single click is 'grayed-out' in Folder Options and am stuck
with only double click. Must have made a change recently, but not
sufficiently knowledgeable to undo the dilemma. Help.

Maybe this registry tweak:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
233. Enable Single Click to Open an Item
330. Restore Single Click Underline Icons

Or try clicking the "Restore Defaults" button.

Thanks. Applied 233 and find the only double click is opening an email
in OE6. However, the single click remains grayed-out in Folder Options.
My memory tells me that previously I had access. Any thoughts?

A single click of an email will highlight the email and, if you press F8
to show the preview below the listing of email headers. Whether that
display is off or on, to my recollection, it always takes a double-click
to open an email from the header. Try an OE newsgroup for more suggestions.

Thanks, but I prefer the Classic Shell (and 'old stuff' like IE and OE6)
for my XP. Won't your suggestion lose that?
