The Old "New" Tab

What happened to the old "New" tab that showed your 9 most visited sites? I
liked that and would like to get it back. I've switched to a blank tab for
now because the new "New" tab is useless.

Are you thinking of a feature provided by a Google add-on? ; )

Otherwise the only thing that IE has ever provided related to that
is in the History bar. Ctrl-h, View by most visited...

As Robert has mentioned, this is provided by the Google Toolbar. And those
most visited sites are only populated from addresses you type into the
address bar, clicking on favourites or links does not count.
