Well, after reading Alias' posts day after day, I decided it was safe to
try Ubuntu. I went through the installation process and when it got to
the highly complicated area where I was forced to partition my
harddrive, I didn't really know what to do.

I am not a very highly technical or advanced computer user and I made a
horrible mistake somehow. I formatted or partitioned or deleted my
harddrive, somehow.

Nothing works now, I just get a screen telling me that MBR is missing,
whatever that is.

My brand new computer is dead in the water and I don't know if it will
ever work again. I had to drag out an old Packard Bell from 1995 just to
get back online and make this post.

Nothing works, my Dell Operating System CD will not even boot the
computer now.

Thanks a whole fucking lot, Alias. I don't have any system images
because I have never known how to make one. I don't think it would work
anyway.

The Ubuntu Live CD will not even work now; I don't know what to do
except just give up.

Sounds like you are a first class idiot. If Alias said to go to his place
and help him fuck Sheep, would you go over?

Again, sounds like you are a retard who doesn't need to be around computers.
I suggest going to the store, purchasing a 55 gallon drum of personal lube
and lock yourself in a dark room for 4 weeks.

Donate your computer to the Salvation Army. You are not smart enough to use
a computer.

Sure. That is the best idea you have said. Go to the highest building in
your community. Take lots of drugs and alcohol. Climb up to the top of the
building. Put on a cape. Jump off building and fly to the next building.

Then I suggest you pack it up in it's original box, take it back to where
you bought it and ask the nice man if he will exchange it for an abacus or a
gameboy.
People FAR lees knowledgeable than you have installed Ubuntu perfectly
easily.
Seems you are either VERY thick or you are being DELIBERATELY cantankerous.

PLONK!

Pop that Linux CD back in and format the hard drive. Then stop.
Then insert the win7 dvd that came with your PC. I ran into this
problem on an old IBM PC and had to scrub the hard drive clean thru a
reformat.

I could believe something could have gone wrong and you'd have lost the
contents of your hard drive but there is NO WAY it would break booting from
a CD.

I assume you do know how to set up your BIOS to boot from a CD?

No shit, sherlock - I also assumed he would not have a backup even if it
was on the level.

You were almost believable until you typed the above. A Dell Boot CD
will always boot your computer and allow you to reinstall - at least if
you have a CD drive and a Hard-Drive.

So, deleting your partitions and installing another OS and then claiming
that your Windows Install/Boot CD doesn't work exposes your trolling.
