Never understood that one. How would a test message, sent to a test ng,
guarantee a post could be made to _this_ group?

Never could figure out why a 'test' post anyway. Presumably they want to
find out if they can post to a group so they can ask a question or post a
comment - so why not just do that - and see if it flies?

How could it not? If it gets to the server it'll get to a newsgroup on
the server.

Additionally, there's NEVER any reason to post a test message, if you
have something to say, say it, if you have a question, ask it, if you
have an answer to someone's question, post it and if none of the above
don't post. If your post shows up on the server, it's working, if not
fix the problem(s) and post it again. Simple.

Test messages in non-test groups are a MAJOR violation of netiquette,
we'll probably never know how many kill filed "Robert Nielsen" when
they saw his/her/it's post.

You really like to tell people what they should or shouldn't do, don't
you? How long have you had this control freak problem? Were your parents
authoritative? Have you ever heard of free speech? In short, who the
FUCK do you think you are telling people what to post and what not to post?

I am, of course, only compounding the problem, but at last count there
were six distracting posts in this thread telling the OP that he is
distracting the group. It is sort of like feeding a troll.

You tell 'em, Alias.
I think a lot of people maybe test their sig, or maybe custom
headers...tho the OP is using neither.
Also, 84% of American adults can spell the word "test", so it's a good
first post.

So you reply, using _16_ lines, to a one line post. Who's the offender?

Gee, I wonder why those stupid people that invented the news groups
went to the bother of establishing "test" groups? Just a total waste
of time, I suppose.

Or is it that Alias can't figure out what those "test" groups are for?

"In short, who the FUCK do you think you are telling people what to
