Competition in the tablet and e-reader market is fierce. Yesterday's announecement by Target is sending shockwaves throughout the blogosphere with some people now asking - is Best Buy next? Forbes describes the retail versus online retailer battle in terms of the showroom effect. This effect involves the shopper to handle the product at the retailer but purchase it online. Another explanation is that these large outlets do not employ people able to service or answer product questions - therefore - why buy from them? After all these large corporations were successful following a price only model. Now they do not have that advantage with these products they will need to find another way to compete.
