Tab Duplication Issue?

Our client's PC is running OneNote 2007, SP2, on Windows XP, SP3. We run
identical versions on his laptop, and share a OneNote notebook on a network
drive, where both PC’s can access the file. OneNote will randomly hit an
error where it creates new tabs for new data, and will not update changes
from a tab from one system or the other. This generates two versions of a
tab, and makes merging the data difficult at best. This issue is
re-occurring, how do we prevent the tab duplication issue? Note: The share
OneNote Notebook gets taken offline while he works on it and then he comes
back to sync.
Thanks,
Tom

What do you mean by TAB, a page or a section ?

What do you mean by "gets taken offline" in detail ?

Do you use any external synch software for the OneNote files like
"Offline Files", "Groove" or "Live Sync/Foldershare" ?

Laptop goes with user, no sync software, and we get tabs that are different
versions of the same page on a notebook, and renamed revisions of a notebook.
Pages and sections Thanks

And the answer to my question about other synch SW is ?

Apologies, there is no other syncing software being used anywhere.

(We are willing to try some if you think it might help solve this issue, or
go looking for a Powertoy that you or others might recommend to make this
back & forth of OneNote files go more smoothly. I do apologize for slow or
unclear responses as I'm relaying questions/responses from the engineer
involved just as I did on the Parner forums where we were told OneNote was
not supported)

Thank you very much for helping us with this.

I asked for synching SW because the only cases I've seen reporting
duplicate ON files are using Sharepoint Server or Live Sync.

You should NEVER use SW other than ON itself for synch.

That said, could you please verify (on both computers)that the folder on
the server containing the ON notebook isn't set as Offline Folder.

If this is Ok (= not set): can you tell us more about "OneNote will
randomly hit an error where it creates new tabs for new data" from your
1st post ?
