I'm sure the OP means the same thing that "syslog" has meant for the
past quarter of a century - that is, the IETF standard system message
logging facility. Primarily adopted in Unix / Linux and variants, but
also used in other operating systems especially when a standard method
is desired in place of proprietary logging tools like Windows provides
natively.
