Sproadic and madening cookie loss

I can go for weeks w/o incident. Then, suddenly, my cookies (and hence site
logins) are GONE. Yahoo email and google search preferences are the first to
be noticed.

After restoring them, it could be good for weeks or for FIVE MINUTES. And
AGAIN. And AGAIN!

I know I'm not the only experiencing this problem.

My annecdotal sluething leads me to believe it's related to Windows Update.
The last session happened hours after a big update a week or two back. It
seems to come and go, probably fixed and broken again by updates.

In which OS? In Vista and W7 I think we have to consider that Cookies could
be in two different places. In XP it is much simpler because it is only
one place and we can see them all using the TIF Viewer.

I haven't considered that factor before. If you think that you could
monitor the Cookies folders for changes caused by updates. That could be
relatively easy, with or without the aid of ProcMon.
