Something causing PC restart

My PC has suddenly started to reboot now and again, particularly if a game is
being played ("Board" type games), but has done it othertimes as well. I
stopped the windows search sytem as it was logged several times in the error
log. However it still resets and also, after switching the socket on I don't
have to press the PC button as it is starting on it's own. The latest log at
reset shows Service Control manager-the session launcher failed to start. I
have all the latest updates and use Norton Internet Security 2010. I replaced
by Norton 360 in January with Kaspersky but returned to Norton in March -
just in case this helps?

Sounds like a heat issue. When's the last time you opened the case? It is
the Easter season and those dust bunnies can be brutal. Your power supply
and/or graphics card could also be going tits-up.

A failing Power Supply Unit seems the most common cause
of spotaneous reboots. Most PC repair stores can test a PSU
free and replace it for about $35.

Go to control panel---system---on advanced tab click settings for recovery
and remove X from reboot
on error. This will allow you to trap the error.
