some internet pages don't appear

Hi,
I am having some trouble with some pages on the internet. (Broadband from
AOL but without the AOL software installed) This is happening to a lot of
pages such as Banks, links from Google, links from other pages, anything
really but not everything. If a page fails to load and I try to ping it I
get no reply even when I know that page is actually available on the
internet for everybody else. I have tried Chrome, IE8 and Safari. They all
have the same problem on the same pages. I have rebooted the router, checked
for virus's and spyware/malware, checked the HOSTS file (nothing) cleaned
the PC up using Ccleaner and uninstalled Norton Antivirus. Nothing seems to
make any difference. What else can I try? Could it be AOL that is causing
the problem?

Please describe in more detail:

fails to load

Then please provide more information:

To eliminate questions and guessing, please provide additional
information about your system.

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just
delete it from the pasted information.

Perform some scans for malicious software, then fix any remaining
issues:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if desired.

Thanks for the swift reply
I am not near the Pc for a few days so can't do the msinfo32 but it is XP
Pro, SP3 all up to date updates. IE8. HP Desktop PC. When the page doesn't
load it says at the bottom webpage found waiting for response and a couple
of the green bars appear. Then it just hangs and hangs waiting for the site
to appear which it doesn't. Most of the time it just stays on the first page
(The page with the link on it) and doesn't even refresh to a blank page. At
this point I have pinged a couple of the address' and they have come back as
unavailable.
I have used MBAM and SAS on it but both have found nothing.

If the DSL connection is recent, and the problem didn't occur before
that, try the TCP Optimizer program at the following link.
