running sysprep in Audit mode

Hi,

I'm following Microsoft's instructions to create a bootable USB flash
disk with a Windows 7 Enterprise custom image but I get an error when I
run sysprep in Audit mode. It continously throws an error like this:

TOOL GeneralizeBcdStore: Unable to open BCD object to generalize.

TOOL Sysprep_Generalize_Bcd: There was an error generalizing the bcd
store.

Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing
'C:/Windows\System32\spbcd.dll,Sysprep_Generalize_Bcd', returned error
code 2[gle=0x00000012]

I can't find any solution to this error from Microsoft. I've
re-installed Windows 7 but I get the same error. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
