You can kill the thread. First, open xnews.ini and copy and past this
line, I put it in right before the "Compose" section but I'm not sure
it matters:

ArticleList=acaAddToScore,acvRevealThread,acaReConsThread,-,acaMarkAllRead,acaMarkAllUnread
Make sure under "Special" you have "Enable Scoring" and "Hard Kill"
selected, close and restart Xnews.
Now, when you see a troll's thread, just right click, select "Add
to score file", from the popup check "Kill", set expiration to
whatever you want, push the "Subject" button and be sure "Matches"
is selected, click the "Rescore on Apply" box and click "Apply".
You should now see the entire thread marked -9999 and if you restart
Xnews, the entire thread will be gone.
