Right clicking: delay in showing meu

Hi,

Occasionally, when I right click on a file, say to rename it, my machine
(SP3) becomes almost non responsive; I am not positive some disk
activity is taking place, it is not obvious. It can take quite a few
seconds before the context menu responds again.

It looks like a cache is being rebuild. Then, the right click menu will
appear normally for quite a while ... until next time.

Is there anything I can do to avoid unnecessary delay in my machine
response to a right click.

Thanks

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/rcdelay.htm

So, was it a network share, or a bad context menu handler? Or, have you
not found the cause yet?
