Restoring Notebooks

I was forced to restore my laptop because of spyware issues. I had saved (I
believe) all my files on My Book. When I put back all my files I put in
Onenote and did not find my old files. Are they lost?

Not lost if you properly saved them ;-)

1.) In the Explorer check to which location you did put back your files

2.) Check the settings of ON for the storage place of the notebook
files:
Tools | Options | Save.
Edit the path if it does not match the storage location.

You should have been a little bit more specific:

1. What do you mean by restore ?
Restore by a complete HD image ?
"Restore" by reinstall OS and ON ?

2. ON version ?

3. Where and how did you look/search for ON files ?

4. You know that ON files are of file type *.one ?

5. You know that a notebook is a Windows folder, not a file ?

5. You know that the standard place for ON notebooks can be found under
Tools, Options, Save ?
