restore factory settings

i recently started installing windows updates on my toshiba equium laptop and
the laptop crashed during updates. now it takes over an hour to boot up and
when it finally does it takes forever to open anything even control panel.
what can i do to sort out this problem. would restoring to factory settings
help and if so how do i do this. thanks, julie.

actually all you really need to do is hit F8 while booting up

hit F8 just after the bios messages

and just before Windows starts to load


that will get you to safe mode and simply run system restore
and take the machine back to a state prior to the updates.

If you know which updates caused the problem

permanently de-select them next time
