Replacing one office with another

I have Offie Standard 2007 on My ageing Dell, which has now died. (boo hoo)
Wife decided she wanted Netbook, which comes with Home and Student 2007
trial. Can I install the Standard on the netbook? Tried the CD key on my
Standard to activate the Home and Student and Office says the key is
incorrect. I have boxed Standard.

Is it possible to uninstall the H and S from the netbok and install the
Standard? I can't see a downloadable version of Standard on the MS site. How
can I do this? Help!

Am ringing MS as soon as open Monday

You need to uninstall the trial and activation assistant first. Then, if
you don't have an external CD/DVD drive, you need to get to a computer that
does and copy all the contents of the Standard CD to a thumb drive. Then
you can install it on the netbook.

So I just drag and drop the contents of the disks to the memory stick and
install from there? Great idea, never thought of that. Thought I would be
able to download it from MS, and simply activate it on the netbook.

Any last minute tips?

So how do you plan to recover your o/s if your netbook has a problem?
Think about it.

I have a Toshiiba T130 with Win 7, I assumed that the Toshiba Recovery
partition would cover that. . I have a portable hard drive with loads of
space, suo I presume it's ok to back up the OS to that?

Sorry if this sounds Thick, but I assume that would work?

Doh. Installation worked fine, thanks for the assist, but My portable Hd
doesn't count as a flash drive on which I can do a recovery of my OS meaning
I now have to go and buy an *GB Flash memory stick! Why is this not made
clear?
Off to the shops tomorrow!

Are you sure that the recovery program can actually write to a memory stick
or does it require a DVD? Not sure about the netbooks but almost all
computers, laptop and desktop, that have a recovery partition that can
create a recovery media requires a DVD drive and blank DVDs or CDs. Check
before wasting money on a flash drive. A decent portable DVD drive won't
cost much more than a flash drive and you will have something that can then
actually read and burn CD and DVDs.
