Removing Windows Media Center from taskbar

I don't use Windows Media Center at all, but my laptop's got it built in to
start on a button press. Now I've got an icon for it on my taskbar and I
can't work out how to get rid of it. It also activates on Startup so
restarting doesn't work.

It says it's for Media Center updates. It gives no option to Exit after
re-clicking and after opening Media Center I can't see any option to get rid
of it there either. Can someone tell me how to close it, preferably
permanently? Even stopping it from starting as I start up Windows would be
good.
