How do you recover deleted files in onenote? If I look at backup, it only
keeps the changed files, not the deleted ones. I know they do not go to the
recycle bin like everything esle. Where do they go?

Thanks in advance for your help.

What version of OneNote are you using? In 2003 and 2010 OneNote has its own
recycle bin for deleted notes. In 2007 you'd have to recover them from the
backup. The backup SHOULD still have a copy of the deleted file.

For OneNote 2007, you need to set the backup interval and the number
of backups you want the program to keep. Check your settings at
Options>Backup to see what backups you should currently have.

Though One Note files do not go into the Recycle Bin, it does not mean that the file has been deleted or removed permanently. It has just been marked as deleted, while the data is still available on the hard disk. However, data recovery needs to be done immediately using a good Undelete Tool, as proceeding with usage of the storage media, after deletion of the file could result in permanent deletion of the file.
